Ally Powered by Better was convenient and easy to use. The pre approval letter was fast and easy to get. Knowing what to do and when things were due was simplified by looking at the online task list. We also knew who to contact, as all their info was easy to find on our profile.

Great Rates, Extremely User Friendly Process . I worked with a Lending Agent, Processing Agent, Closing Agent. The hand-offs between them was seamless. Sometimes it was a little hard to get insights from the Lending Agent mid-way but absolutely no issues with communication between the Processing and Closing phases. As with all lenders and banks it takes multiple documents and sometimes repetitive documents so that's a process they can streamline. The online portal is fun to be on, personalized pre-approval letters an incredible tool ! I worked with at least three other lenders when I shopped around for rates. Ally has outstripped the competition already . I can only hope they get better ! (One of the ways would be to possibly proactively help with lower rates! ;)) - I think you'll win every customer that way!

Ally had great rates, but that was the only good part. Overall, Ally was extremely unreliable -- kept on delaying things till the last minute despite repeated follow-ups. The property appraisal took 15+ days after payment which was past the financial contingency date, so I had to waive it. Every iteration of closing paperwork took a whole day. Even on the day of the closing they discovered brand new paperwork that was missing (more precisely they forgot to send it over despite being asked multiple times to check beforehand). Worse yet, there is no one person you're dealing with - you kept getting shuttled from one person to another.

Ally's online portal was easy to use and seamless. I would highly recommend Ally as a lender to anyone who has thoroughly researched mortgage products and prefers e-signing versus in person printing and returning. Ally might be challenging for those who prefer in person conversations but I highly prefer a web portal to in person walkthroughs since I don't have trouble reading the legalese etc. The things I did have questions for I was able to call or schedule calls with the processing expert and closing experts. The Ally experts were friendly and easy to work with.

Securing a home loan from Ally was incredibly straightforward and easy. They made preapproval painless, and all of the steps and tasks towards getting the loan were in one place and easy to complete. We also got an excellent interest rate. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Very helpful and always quick to respond. We had initially started an application with another lender but they were often difficult to get hold of. We switched to Ally and were able to more easily work with them, and even got a better rate. Always helpful and their online system was easy to use.

Overall a great experience. I really liked the modern approach to their home loan process and it all went fairly smoothly, with the exception of the closing phase. The agent assigned to help in that stage of the process was difficult to reach when we had questions. I think that was an agent issue, rather than a systemic issue with Ally, so I would definitely recommend them!

We were going to go with a local credit union but they wanted to close after our existing closing date. Ally’s low fees, excellent service, and clear explanations will have me looking to them again in the future. The one hiccup was a miscommunication between Ally and the title company regarding Covid signing procedures. This was frustrating but Ally worked to make it right at no cost to us with only a one day extension.
