The closing statement on the sale of my home was not provided until 15 minutes before the closing. Since I was not in attendance, this was very disturbing to me. I spoke with my attorney, mr. J D Huls, at 5 o’clock the evening before the closing which took place at 9 o’clock in the morning the following day. I expressed my frustration and concern over my lack of understanding of the tentative closing document and the fact that my net proceeds seemed to be $2000 short. His only answer for me was “ Wait for the final document“. I asked him three different times to be sure to call me the next morning before the closing so we could go over the documents and I could have complete clarity before proceeding with the closing. He did not do that. I gave my permission for the closing to proceed, blindly trusting my attorney and the title company. As it turned out, there was a $2000 error and my net proceeds were $2000 less than they should have been. None of the professionals caught this, and if it had not been for the diligence and follow through on the part of myself and my son, I would be out $2000. This is an egregious mistake. When my son tried to talk with Dorothy who is with the title company, she put the blame entirely on us, and would accept no responsibility. I would never recommend Fidelity national title or mr. JD Huls Joan Walton
