We have never experienced such a disasterous house purchase in our many years on this planet. In early February we got the impression from Adam that our loan was approved. Then in March about two weeks before closing it appeared to all blow up. Through out this whole process we have gotten the impression that Adam was not truthful with us. His answers were always vague and did not quite add up. We are quite sure at some point he made an error or didn't file something correctly. For one thing he told us he had been "advised" to file the loan as an investment for us but that caused problems and he had to resubmit. But when we received the final docs the loan actually was listed as an investment. So we still don't know why a few weeks before closing we were being asked to resubmit all the paystubs and banking info that we had previously submitted. We were repeatedly told by Adam"oh the lender is asking for this again" But wasn't it all already in the portal and couldn't Adam get it from the portal and forward it to the lender ? So was the lender asking or had Adam misplaced the documents ? Our experience with Adam was so disingenuous and shifty that we felt we were being lied to the majority of the time.
Neither Adam or Mary, who appeared on the scene in the last few weeks, seem to know how to access the portal because we were REPEATEDLY asked to upload the same docements time and time again by Mary. Additionally, Adam and Mary did not appear to communicate - many times my husband commented that the "right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing". Adam and Mary were very disorganized and did not give convey any sense of confidence or experience.
The whole "investment" classification on the loan was quite concerning to us given the "14 day' clause. When we reached out to Adam for clarification he would not give us any WRITTEN clarification or explanation or reassurance but instead left a 20 sec voice mail saying "it was all ok not to worry". At this point we were so beaten down and exhausted we didn't have it left in us to keep fighting.
Our closing date had to be pushed back TWICE. We nearly lost this house - which would have meant the loss of our earnest money plus all the service charges and exchange rate involved in the down payment which we had already withdrawn from our account. Apparently the seller was so upset with how this process went that they are also planning to write a letter of complaint to Bay Equity
During all these multiple set backs and "11th hour" revelations, Adam was quiet. Our realtor had to guilt him into actually calling us and giving us some idea what was going on
Right from the start of this process we truly felt like the first canadians to EVER purchase a property in the US. Things like Canadian Social Insurance numbers and postal codes were a constant stumbling block and it seemed that neither Adam or Mary or Title Forward had ever encountered these situations.
And the "form emails" - so while we were dealing with all the roadblocks and obstacles and living in constant state of stress and replying to multple emails from Adam, Mary and Title Forward, we would get these random generic, "congratulations you moved on to the next step" type emails from Adam. This were insulting, upsetting and confusing. They confirmed to us that neither Adam or Bay equity saw us as anything but a number and no one was concerned if we actually got the loan & property.
