I went with Redfin, bay equity and Title Forward for a streamlined process. It would be better if there was a central platform to access information rather than keeping track of three or four different platforms.
Paul delivered on his promises, responded to questions and concerns, worked through complications to a successful conclusion.

There were too many points of contact - confusing. We were given the amount for closing in advance; however, less than 24 hours prior to closing we received an email with a new document stating the due amount was $10,712 more than we were given. We received the email at 6:38pm the evening prior (post business hours). Obviously, we were astonished by being blindsided by the new figure. We immediately contacted our realtor, only to find out the figure was right but the lender made a mistake. Paul called me/us on our closing day of 4/1 and explained the mistake and offered a solution that we (us, the realtor and Bay Equity) divide the $10,712 between the 3 of us. Paul seemed genuine and we appreciated the gesture; however, were still disappointed. The customer should never be responsible for the lender's mistake. Later the same day, we spoke to Paul, our realtor, and Reddfin over the phone. Paul came across disrespectful and dismissing. We had no choice but to pay the 1/3 difference for the mistake. We closed on the next day of 4/2. The whole experience left a bad feeling for us when it should have been a pleasant one.

The process was slow and incorrect information was communicated on multiple occasions. We were up against a wall awaiting final numbers to ensure we had the correct funds in the correct account and due to the delays in releasing information, we had to scramble at the last minute because the final numbers were not released until inside of the 24 hours before closing. This is something we have never experienced before when closing on a home. We were also told the wire must be comleted 24 hours before close, and there was physically no way for this to occur.
Apparent automated emails cause confusion and set off alarms. The various reps that worked with us frequently had conflicting information and it seemed like they hadn't spoken with each other before reaching out to us.
Home closings are always a bit chaotic and stressful, however, the experience with Bay Equity was unparalleled, and not in a good way. I will never recommend Bay Equity, in fact if asked I will tell people to avoid at all costs. Had I realized the nightmare we would go thru all the way to showing up for closing and not being told we would need to park in a parking garage that costs $15 per vehicle, I would have gone with Navy Fed. We will not make that same mistake again.
I had very little contact with Paul Addison, but his assistants were always available, answered all my questions with professionalism, expediant on any paper work needed, friendly, helpful with this technologically challenged customer, with a lot of patience!
Both his assistants deserve raises, and kudos for their FANTASTIC work! I have never had such a fabulous work relationship with theses ladies!

During a delay in mortgage process, I reached out several times to Paul and his team and received no contact or information for two days. I was sent to voicemail and emails were left unanswered. The next contact I received was Paul pocket dialing me one morning speaking unkindly about a client, which sounded like me. It was insulting and disrespectful.
I am glad they were able to close my mortgage but I have a higher standard for being treated with respect.

Pauls team sent me my closing disclosure at 5 pm the night it was due with incorrect values and expected me to sign it. I spoke with multiple lenders and mortgage bankers who advised me to not sign documents that were incorrect. Paul was unavailable at this time and passed my loan to his assistant who was aware of the insurances I wanted to use but put the incorrect ones on my file. Then the team proceeded to bully me at 6-8pm because I wouldn?t sign the disclosure that was incorrect. As a first time home buyer I was not treated with respect and nothing was explained to me.
Paul and his team took the worry out of a stressful process and they all very thorough and answered every question and were easy to communicate with at anytime. I really enjoyed working with Paul and his team.
Most things with my loan went as planned. In other words, nothing stood out as exceptional in the experience, although Paul was easy to talk to and readily available.
The only negative I took away was when it came to locking in my rate. Paul's assistant, Jasmine, would send rates to me and then repeatedly ask "are you comfortable locking in?" I received no advice to actually make me "comfortable." This sticks with me because, before locking in, apparently the Fed was meeting and ended up raising interest rates. In the end, this cost me a few thousand dollars in points from one day to the next. Had I received actual advice such as, "the Fed is meeting this week and trends indicate they plan to raise rates, so you may want to consider locking in," would have been useful information that would have made me "comfortable" to lock in.
The service and guidance I was given from Paul and his team went above and beyond. I'm very grateful for the time and effort put into getting me into my first home. If I'm ever approached by anyone on where to go for a home loan, without a doubt it will be with Bay Equity. This team is awesome and I look forward to working with them again.
Overall , a great experience of working with Paul . I have been informed regularly on the progress and thats what i liked the most . This been very smooth for me and the deal process was completed in within a week.
