Jim was excellent! He was able to come out with just a few days notice and was incredibly thorough and explained everything he was inspecting as he went along. The report was thorough and we feel so lucky we were able to get Jim as our inspector!!

Jim was highly recommended to me by good friends who told me that I absolutely had to use him to inspect the home I was buying. They explained that it is important to have an inspector independent of your agent because it is in the agent's strong interest to close a deal. They told me that Jim was incredibly detail oriented and tough and would find every single possible problem. They were not wrong. Jim was excellent at inspecting my home. But he went above and beyond--teaching me about the home as he inspected it. He was also really kind and supportive during what was a pretty stressful process. I highly recommend Jim!

Jim is thorough and an absolute delight to be around, but most importantly, he can find out anything good or bad about your home in an hour or two. Buying a home is stressful with lots of unanswered questions, and Jim makes sure you're up to speed on your house's character, quirks, and when to run from the deal. Only use Jim if you want straight answers. He's the best!

I've used Jim twice for inspections. I wouldn't go with anyone else. From his time as a city inspector, Jim has an incredible wealth of knowledge, allowing him to catch issues that other inspectors would miss. His inspections are incredibly detailed. Before making the offer on the property that lead to this current review, he uncovered issues as another unit that I was under contract on, saving me a lot of time and liability down the road. Spending an hour or two with him will provide a real education on the property you're considering buying.

Jim is great if you want an extensive education along with your inspection. He'll describe how everything in the house works, what to watch out for during your decades of home ownership, and often: how he would have handled something. Jim is not going to miss anything, and clearly prides himself on a safety focus. His report was detailed, extensive, and carefully documented every single problem. Jim is a good choice if you want a lot of data to work with as you negotiate based on your inspection.

I was very happy with Jim's work. He inspected my condo thoroughly and explained everything he saw to me. Jim completed the inspection report promptly and followed up on several issues. Personable and forthcoming with information, Jim made me feel comfortable with my purchase.

I'm so glad I chose Jim to be my home inspector! He inspected two large homes for me in Washington, DC, and I would definitely use him again. Jim's inspections are "tough," and he works on behalf of the buyer's best interest, not the realtor's pending deal. Even though he's pricier than many other inspectors, the extra cost may have saved me from a $60k issue other inspectors may not have noticed. Jim is experienced with the DC City Code, and his identification of some noncompliance issues caused me to withdraw from my first contract. I was able to enter into a contract on my second home with full confidence that if there were issues, Jim would have found them. Jim's report was quick (within 24 hours) and thorough (he gives low- and high-end estimates for fixing/replacing every issue he identifies). This price figure gave me great leverage for my repair negotiations with the sellers, and allowed me to budget appropriately. He also will go through the house and tell you what you should fix immediately, versus what you should just "keep an eye out for." Jim also genuinely cares for his clients. He helped me deal with the DCRA when trying to remedy the Code noncompliance issues, and checked in with me up until closing. Especially if you're nervous about the homebuying process, you'll be in great hands if you choose Jim.

Jim was very personable and knowledgeable. He caught on to some things we would have never noticed. He was also very thorough and was willing to answer any questions we had--even after the inspection was completed.

He seemed to love his work, which meant he was extremely observant and noticed things I never would have thought to look at. In hindsight, I consider his services to have been extremely valuable and well worth the cost.

Jim is super detailed oriented which is what you want. He won't miss a thing and will walk you through things to look out for, how to fix some things in your home, and tips for future maintenance. We felt like we had left the inspection better informed of how our house operates.

Jim is not only incredibly thorough in his inspections and documentation (including very helpful photos), but is also incredibly knowledgeable about home renovations, DC landlord-tenant issues, and any number of related issues. He was also very accommodating in scheduling his inspection around an uncooperative tenant and in taking particular note regarding issues for anticipated future renovations. I would definitely hire him again and highly recommend him to others!

Jim was amazing. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience. He walked me through every step of the inspection and spent a lot of time answering my questions. He was immediately available, very responsive, and thorough. I ended up not moving forward on the house and am back on the search. I'll definitely work with Jim for my next inspection.

AMAZING inspector! Jim has 20+ years as a DC building inspector. Jim worked with me on a few homes before I purchased my current home. He saved me from buying two money pits. In addition to the large problems, Jim identified many smaller issues in the aforementioned homes that would have been extremely expensive to fix. Jim takes the time to review all aspects of the home before submitting a extremely detailed report. I honestly wouldn't go with anyone else.

Jim's a former DCRA inspector and knows the building codes inside and out. He's very thorough and vocal with his opinions, which we really appreciated. We didn't just get an inspection - we felt like we came away with a 5 year plan for the maintenance and repair work we needed to tackle immediately, in the next year, and so on.

Jim is thorough, fun and friendly. We promptly got a great report back of things both serious and minor to keep in mind when going forward with the deal. He's got a ton of experience in the area and can get you thinking about important things that aren't visible or obvious.
