Doug was so easy to work with. He was extremely helpful in walking me through the particulars of loan offerings. Being a local broker, when you call him he answers (or calls back quickly if away), it's not some giant bank with mazes of robot menus. Rates were going up right around when we needed to lock a rate, and after talking with bigger banks it was clear Amegy would be able to lock in a rate the same day while Bank of America wanted to have me pay for an appraisal and only after that actually happened (several days later) would they lock in the rate. Amegy also doesn't make you pay for the appraisal unless it actually happens (i.e. you may skip it if you don't like the inspection). Overall the responsiveness and helpfulness of Doug made the loan process so easy. I've heard horror stories about closing late and delays due to lenders but we had none of that with Doug and Amegy. He came early to the closing and the loan was funded well before we finished signing papers.
