We were on an accelerated timeline to close and Academy Mortgage was able to deliver without issue! No hiccups in the process and questions were answered to our satisfaction. The only suggestion I have is to be more proactive about letting the buyer know what step we're in and what's coming up next. We had to ask to confirm a few times if all things from our side was complete and what we were waiting on for next

Danny's team did an outstanding job in helping us successfully put in a winning offer on our home and close within a very short time frame. The overall process was expedited and required Danny's team to underwrite multiple borrowers in a matter of a few days in order to waive our financing contingency. His team's flexibility and speed made our offer stand out from the rest and allowed us to win our dream home. As first-time homebuyers, my wife and I had many questions along the way, which his team was incredibly helpful with. We would highly recommend his team to others and would use them again for any future real estate purchases in the area.

Danny Meier and his team were excellent. Danny got us an estimate that beat many larger institutions. Additionally, we were able to close with Academy Mortgage in 14 days, rather than the 30 bigger institutions were demanding.

good knowledge quick service

Academy was able to do a very fast close, but by the skin of our teeth, and in retrospect that benefit didn't outweigh the difficulties we had working with them. First, when our offer was first accepted by the seller, we asked Academy and one other lender for their best rate that day, so we could decide which to work with. Danny quoted us a rate competitive with the other lender, but we found out later - only after we committed to Academy - that it came with >$20,000 in points, whereas the other lender's rate didn't. I don't know if this was an intentional "bait & switch," but it sure felt that way. Second, with only 48 hours until our closing date, Academy called saying their in-house (!) underwriters couldn't grapple with our income from a small AirBNB we run. Apparently they were planning to sell our mortgage to an investor, and the investor was "new to this business" so didn't understand how income from a short-term rental worked. They demanded proof that this business existed and a host of other odd, emergency substantiations. And all within 48 hours before we were supposed to get the keys to our new house. Moreover, the underwriters (who, I'll note again, are Academy's own staff) double-counted the tax, depreciation, and operating expenses from our rental toward our personal income. So this all added up that our debt-to-income ratio hit some threshold that put our loan in jeopardy. This was extraordinarily frustrating. Only due to one member of the Academy team - Adrienne Cannon - who was able to problem-solve with us, did we close on time. She's an asset to the Academy team and I would work with her again any time. Finally, when we signed our loan papers, we discovered that Academy had under-counted my wife's salary by nearly 1/2. We still don't know why. This no doubt contributed to the DTI emergency. So while Academy was able to close quickly, we found it nearly didn't happen, and a fast close wasn't an essential part of our offer anyway. So we unfortunately cannot recommend them to others.

Academy did a terrific job on a purchase of a home in Seattle. Very strong communication, very organized, very supportive and friendly and knowledgeable people. Purchasing a home and getting approval on a mortgage is a complicated process in general and they made it as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Was the preferred lender on new construction we purchased. Great team of people and smooth transaction process overall. Everyone kept me informed and was responsive. Terms/conditions of the loan were very competitive as well! Great job all around.

Academy got us a better rate and a lower down payment than anyone else. Not only did they work with us and understood our objectives, they were able to close the loan incredibly fast and got us moved into our new home days ahead of schedule.

His ability to swiftly secure funding and do all of the necessary underwriting, paperwork, and things I don't understand but very much admire made it so I was able to snag the house of my dreams without having the highest offer.
