I've been working in the financial services industry for a relatively long time, so I admit that I was a bit more conscious than I need to be about my interest rate when I shop for loans. John was terrible. He constantly told us only what we wanted to hear instead of the truth of the situation - the classic bait and switch at basically every turn of the process. He never gave me a straight answer on anything. The loan was late which put tremendous pressure on our closing. I had to deliver the same documents to him multiple times. Some documents I had given him never made it to the underwriter. The only saving grace is that we did end up with a loan, at a good rate, and we did successfully close. But not without a huge amount of needless stress and drama.

I am so glad I picked John as my lender. Being first time home buyers my wife and I had tons of questions for John. He answered all of them with the extreme patience and eloquence of a true professional. He even called the selling agent to affirm that we were solid buyers. We were looking for a house for quite some time and during the lengthy process we used John Wheaton for all our lending needs. If I had any questions he was quick to respond by email or phone. During the home loan process on he kept us up to date on where the loan was in the application process. John even showed up at closing to answer any questions and explain each document as we signed all the paperwork. I recommend him highly.

Very helpful and informative. Our first attempt at a purchase fell out of escrow. With both that one and with the purchase that finally went through, he was great with communication! We had a small hiccup in the last days of escrow and he kept us informed of the progress through that time, assuring us all was on track. He went the extra mile and came to our house to pick up paperwork at one point. He was on time, if not early, to all appointments and even showed up to our closing signing when he didn't have to, carrying a lovely gift basket. Truly a class act!

John provided us the best service and also the best deal!!! During our loan shopping, we contacted 5+ lenders. Among them, John gave us the warmest and most pertinent help. As a first-time buyer, we asked a lot of questions from the very beginning. John is always available to answer them into very details. Now, we can see some of these questions are so naïve. But at that time, John explained us very patiently and illustratively. And we also asked some theoretical questions about how the loan is constructed and how banks work. John spent quite a lot of time with us for such questions until we finally understood. He is online always. No matter when we sent in an email or message, he replied back in a few minutes. When making offer to the home which we bought, we picked two lenders as the final options, John and another lender. We totally inclined to John for his professionalism and warmness to us. Also, his experience and BOA’s scale add in much more credibility than most other lenders we contacted. Under the table, we already decided that we would work with him as long as his price is not $4k higher than the other one. Then finally, the price quote came out. John’s loan APR is even 0.125-0.25% lower than the other one!! It is the happiness moment during our home hunting, as we got the amazing deal on load and could keep working with our favorite lender. In the Escrow, John made it really smooth for us to get approval. Tons of documents are drafted by him in the shortest time. There are a couple obstacles during our loan processing, but John helped us overcome them in no time. I think maybe our loan may not be approved or at least not in 30 days if we chose some other lenders. Also, the BOA loan team behind him is very efficient and friendly. We extremely like John and recommend him. Nowadays, we still tell friends how much help we got from him and how low APR he provided us.

I met him and our agent (Keith Thomas) at one of the Redfin presentations for homebuyers that they hosted. After hearing John speak (and monopolizing his time during the Q&A), I knew he was someone that would do everything in his power to make our transaction smooth and successful. He is the most patient person, and was always responsive to our many, many questions. By phone, email--I felt 100% confident and in control of our homebuying experience.
