Sean is a real professional and takes pride in his knowledge and work. JD Grewell is one of the best home inspection companies in this area.

Sean arrived to the inspection on time, met with me before beginning to see if I had any questions or concerns, and talked me through the entire process. He made sure I fully understood his notes and before leaving asked if I had any questions. He was thorough and if I move again plan on making him my first call.

The inspector took 3 or 4 hours combing through our future property and discovered many important flaws and faults that needed correcting before we were confident that moving forward was the right option. Highly recommended.

JD and his son-in-law did our inspection, and they were very thorough and really explained all the issues, as well as general home maintenance issues. They caught a lot of little things that I think less thorough inspectors would have glossed over. Highly recommend!

JD isn't the warmest guy in the world, but I would use him every time to pick over a house that I'm considering buying. His reports are extremely thorough, and he didn't miss anything that we have noticed. His reports include pictures and really get into all the details.

JD Grewell is meticulous. He is a strong advocate for the buyer and goes into great detail regarding potentially problematic issues with a home. He also makes himself available to answer questions and provide advice. Well worth the extra cost.

Extremely thorough inspection and report.

We have already recommended Mr. Grewell to several of our friends and family. After seeing the detailed report he produced for us, a friend of ours regretted not using his services for her home purchase. Mr. Grewell was thorough and patient with a curious first-time buyer, taking the time to explain his findings both during and after the inspection process. Mr. Grewell is completely committed to the buyer -- this is why we initially chose him. We wanted an un-biased opinion about the place we had just fallen in love with. We relied on him to show us the warts we were blissfully overlooking. If there's something wrong, he will let you know how much to worry about it based on his 40+ years of experience in the DC area. A little over a month into our new home, we continue to sing his praises. We plan to use Mr. Grewell's report as a roadmap for what gets fixed first.

Mr. Grewell has been referred to as the 'deal-killer' due to his tendency to find all sorts of scary little (and not-so-little) flaws in properties. This is the second time I've used his services, and if I ever buy another property in the area I will use him again. If you want the fastest or cheapest home inspection you should look elsewhere. If you want to know every little thing that is wrong or could possibly go wrong with the property you're buying, he's your man.

Very thorough home inspector. Does things "old school", so report includes no pictures and is not electronic (you'll have to scan it yourself if you want to email the report).

Expensive, poor communication and handwritten report.

Very thorough job, but handwritten report and did not take pictures of issues. I heard later that most places do electronic reports (easier to read) and take pictures. But he was very responsive, and answerd the phone after the inspection to take questions. Seemed very thorough during inspection, but after we moved in we found out that several light/fan fixtures don't work properly (eg, light switch doesn't work, or you can't have light off and fan on, etc).

This guy is gruff and doesn't say much, but he doesn't miss a thing.
