We were able to close on our property and received the disbursement of the proceeds, and that's about the only good thing I have to say about my experience with Settlement Ink. The staff did not seem to understand my questions to address them during the contract period as we prepared to close. As an example, I told them that we wanted to sign our paperwork at the settlement office on the closing day, but Settlement Ink thought that I was requesting to the closing remotely (I was not). They sent me paperwork to print and sign, despite my telling them multiple times that I do not own or have access to a printer. The whole process was extremely frustrating and I still was not able to review all of the documents in advance of the closing date, which meant that we had to spend more time outside on a cold December day reading paperwork before we signed. They do have an "outdoor" closing area available, but this is completely enclosed and so really is an "indoor" closing area that is separated from their office. Approximately 1 week after our closing, I sent them the final water bill via their Qualia system. Our condo building submeters the water and the bill is combined with electric (which I had told them in advance was the case), and so I asked Settlement Ink to confirm if the entire bill would be paid from our water escrow (which has available funds more than 4x the amount due). They did not respond despite a 2nd follow-up sent through Qualia. My husband called Settlement Ink by phone last week to again ask if the bill would be paid from our escrow. He was told that it would be paid that day and they would give him a call to confirm "within the hour." Needless to say, we never received a phone call or any other follow up about this bill, so we will need to follow up yet again in to ensure the bill is paid on-time and to retrieve the remaining funds from our water escrow.
