I found Cornerstone Title to be a bunch of used car salesmen. At first, they said, "we'll send a mobile notary to your home" in an effort to have me sign the documents faster. They never told me (until I asked), that this wonderful service they would provide would actually cost $120. Then, as a first time home-buyer, they never walked me through which items on my final closing costs were optional. It turns out that title insurance is indeed optional. I paid $2200 for this, was never told it was optional, and was never walked through exactly what I purchased...what does it cover?...how do I make claims?...what if Cornerstone Title is bankrupt by the time I need to make a claim?...what am I insured against?...how frequently is title insurance used in high-rise condos in SF? These are all things that would have gone into my purchase decision. However, they took advantage of me as a first time home-buyer, and slipped this onto my closing costs. ABSOLUTE SCUMBAG USED-CAR SALESMEN!
