First American Title Insurance did an excellent and reliable job of managing all the required documents and signatures for the closing. That said, buying and selling a house is far more complicated than it should be with a lot of unnecessary fees, including the concept of "title insurance" itself -- isn't recording property rights in a trustworthy way the most basic function of government? I hope an entrepreneur or dedicated public servant works to streamline and simplify the home buying and selling process.

Horrible experience. The escrow officer working on my case was so unprofessional and rude. Every question that I asked was like an annoyance to her. She even gave me the "sigh" when I asked multiple questions on "title insurance". I guess these people just forget that an average person doesn't sell properties every single day and a lot of these terms are new to him/her. They are there to explain, not to show their attitude!

Maria Herr and her team at First American made the selling process incredibly easy. They prepared all of the documents and transferred payment in a timely fashion, even coordinating sending documents electronically and paying to have hard copies overnighted from one signer. I was very impressed that it only took about 5 minutes in their office to finalize the sale of my condo. I had a great experience with First American when I purchased the property, and that is why I chose them again when I sold. They certainly did not disappoint.
