We were a bit dismayed at the redundancy of requests for documentation. After submitting copies of IRS 1040's, we were twice asked to authorize direct requests to the IRS for duplicate documentation. The same was true for bank statements. Overall the atmosphere created was that nearly every one our submissions had to be validated. Why not just ask for the authority in the first place? I recognize a certain amount of "standard procedure" may be involved but if it is it leaves considerable opportunity for improvement. Part of the problem seemed to be a result of a lack of internal coordination. "right hand not talking to the left hand...easier to just ask the borrower to repeat...
I would add the personnel involved were all very congenial.
