We were hesitant about using all of Lennar’s parent company services when purchasing a Lennar built home. Every experience we had with Lennar employees was positive until Lennar Title. I reached out to their office one week prior to closing to ensure they knew we needed to close remotely and to begin the process of scheduling the notary. I was unable to speak to either of the agents assigned to our file, but left a message with someone else who said it would be fine and they would reach out later in the week. Three days later (5 days prior to closing), I called several times, leaving voice messages and unable to speak to anyone directly as I hadn’t heard back and we were moving out of our house and trying to begin our travel for our move. Later that evening (we were on EST while working with a team on PST), my husband received a call from one of the agents stating she had sent us a message through the portal and had been waiting for a call from us (she sent the message one hour prior to calling my husband). He let her know that he needed to speak with me to determine when we could meet with a notary. I called her back 20 minutes later (approx 7pm EST) to learn they wanted us to sign our closing paperwork that evening or the next day. She gave me the contact info for the local notary so we could coordinate directly. I asked her what I should do if we couldn’t make a time work before we left town (we were in the process of moving coast to coast) and I offered to call her back. She told me just to email as she was leaving the office and the only one there and that we could work something out over the weekend (when we were planning to travel 1000+ miles). I hung up absolutely unimpressed with that experience, called the notary (who was wonderful) and made arrangements to sign the documents. The notary called me back an hour later to tell me she had received a message in her portal that we needed to sign that night. At this point, it was almost 9pm EST. I knew I couldn’t call Lennar Title, so I reached out to my mortgage lender who was able to assure me there was no reason to sign that night. I received no follow up from Lennar Title, but then started to get emails from another Title group, only to find out several days later that Lennar Title needed to use a local title group to complete our transaction with the county. But no one ever told us that, so we were concerned about fraud and phishing. Lennar Title was the worst part of the entire home buying process. 0/10. Would never use them again.
