Looking for a complicated escrow process? Look no further.
I've bought and sold several homes over the years and have never experienced a tenth of the issues I have had with Stewart Title. They only have 2 escrow officers, Araceli and Myra. The person we were originally working with went on vacation without mentioning to her partner that we were scheduled to close and it wasn't until I called to find out what time I would get keys that I found out nobody was working on it anymore. Granted the seller's realtor Stephanie Vitacco should have been following up with Stewart and clearly wasn't but Stewart had miscommunications and errors on paperwork sent to both our lender and the title officer. Their staff always blamed someone else for holding things up but when confronted with that other group on a conference call, would change their story. In the midst of signing paperwork with their notary, we got another call changing the dollar amount of the money we needed to wire that day. Our lender funded the loan Friday morning and it is now Monday afternoon and we still don't have access to the house because they haven't recorded. Our seller selected this firm but we're paying a lot of money for very little service and we've had to keep changing our timeline for the move. Avoid.
