We appreciate the client taking their time to voice their concerns. As we shared with the client, the settlement date is chosen by the parties at the time of contract. We were presented with that settlement date and did everything necessary to help them settle on time. After the parties selected their settlement date, we received word that the courthouse would be closed on that day (Thursday, Dec 30) in addition to New Year’s Eve. Snowfall then kept the courthouse closed through Tuesday. The deed was recorded and the settlement funds were disbursed when the courthouse reopened on Wednesday, January 5th. We refunded their entire settlement fee as consideration for our failure to give them advance notice of the scheduled courthouse closures. We strive to give our customers the best closing experience. We are using this experience to make a concerted effort to alert our customers to foreseeable disbursement delays.
