This 30-acre lot has sweeping ocean and mountain views along with all the privacy and tranquility that is characteristic of the region. The property’s terrain offers a multitude of choices for building and development. Kaupo is believed to be where the first Polynesians landed on Maui. It's a place with a rich history and many preserved cultural sites. Ancient Hawaiians called it wahi pana, “storied places”. The property is located off the Kaupo Gap Road, a natural feature of Haleakala National Park, and a gateway to exploring the Park's trails. A trail through the Kaupo Gap leads to the top of the volcano, winding through old Koa forests and dense rainforests. This is a rare opportunity to own a pristine slice of old Hawaii. Access to the property is on the Kaupo Gap Road, one-third mile off the Piilani Hwy.

About
Kaupo
Kaupo, located between Kipahulu and Kahikinui, is a rural and coastal Hana neighborhood with a rugged lava shoreline and wide-open ranchlands. The neighborhood’s character concentrates around the Kaupo Store area on Piilani Highway, where a lone roadside stop meets long, quiet stretches of road and big sky. Weathered plantation-era structures and scattered homesteads sit against Haleakala’s dry, leeward slopes. Kaupo’s pace follows the land: grazing fields, stone walls, and ocean views rather than town blocks. The Kaupo Store and the historic Kaupo Church serve as local touchstones, while the Kaupo Gap Trailhead signals the area’s backcountry pull.

Today is The Time for Tomorrow's essential small cabin, private cold, pure well water, fertile soil, off-the-grid self-sustaining environment. Sitting at 750 feet high and a little more than 1 mile the ocean; about 45 inches of relible rainfall well distributed across the months; fresh Northeast tradewinds energized from a long journey across the North Pacific ocean; views out across the Pacific toward the Big Island...across to the multiple waterfalls plunging down the back of Manawainui Valley...up to Haleakala National Park 's iconic Kaupo Gap boundary; a quiet one hour drive from "the city" along a paved back-country road dividing the vast, & wild Island coastline below from the nearly indescribable majestic, craggy, & timeless Leeward Haleakala above, that falls to the coast abruptly from 9,000 feet high above...an eighth wonder of the World!! Kaupo is a quiet and powerful Place...the essential 21st Century refuge.
