An Amish-built home in good condition on a gently sloping lot, about 1/3 open and 2/3 forest. New roof in 2023. Hardwood floors, 9ft ceilings, and abundant high-quality wood windows throughout. Open-concept first floor features a kitchen with black stone countertops, a walk-in pantry, and a dual-level island. There is a wood-burning fireplace with a black marble surround, a heat fan, and a carved wood mantle. (If you like, you can use the free firewood from your own forest). The bay window with storage under the seating is a delightful place to relax. Central heat and AC via a geothermal heat pump. Whole-house vac system, and dual 50-gallon Rheemglas water heaters. There is one bedroom on the first floor, which is currently being used as an office. The first-floor bathroom is right by the side door for convenience. The second floor has 2 bedrooms, one of which is the master bedroom with a walk-in closet. It also has the master bath with dual sinks, a claw-foot tub, and a shower. A bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet is off the second-floor landing area next to the second bedroom on this floor. There is a laundry area in a nook on the second-floor landing/hallway area as well. On the third floor, there is an open flex area with a storage nook. A door leads to a hallway with a walk-in closet and a half bath. Another door leads to the 4th bedroom, which is quite large and also has a walk-in closet. This home sits on 11.5 beautiful acres that are an absolute delight. The magnificent black walnut tree outside the MB French doors gives a beautiful year-round view. Ancient oaks in a row along the left border of the land are just wonderful. There are lavender beds and a small elderberry grove as well. There is a large fenced-in area with fruit and nut trees and vines, a rose garden, raised beds, and countless ornamental perennials. Outside the fence, there are several acres with lavender beds, several rows of American elderberry trees, and many ornamentals. There is a hedge along the front that has openings for the 3 gravel driveways. Two for the circle drive in front of the home, and the third goes to the 40' x 24' pole barn, which we use as a garage, workshop, and storage area. It is wired and dry but not insulated or heated. To the left side of the property, there is a small farm owned by a very nice couple; to the right, there is a small but beautiful and well-maintained RR track, and along the back border, there is a creek in a 15 to 20 ft deep ravine. We recently had a small dirt road cleared through the woods, so it is nicer to walk out there without having to fight the brambles. For many years, we have had an abundance of morel mushrooms that grow in the forest here. There are also dozens of wild persimmons, sassafras, hickory, and many other varieties of interesting species. Wildlife here is mostly cardinals, deer, fox, groundhogs, owls, and the occasional raccoon. We enjoy watching them from a distance as they generally stay clear of the house and fenced area. Water and sewer are provided through the City of Eldorado. Service is reliable. Three local companies offer refuse hauling; they are all pretty good. As with most places these days, there are quite a few internet service providers. We have 100G service for a nominal fee per month. Local ordinances are freedom-oriented and, from my experience, do not interfere with building projects. The people here are nice, but they mind their own business. Unless you need help or a kind word, which they are happy to offer. This is a quiet old-school community with good schools and a peaceful, down-to-earth living style.
Live Like It's the Country! This 3 bd, 4 ba home is located on 11.5 acres in the middle of TOWN. Built by the Amish, this house has many characteristics you will fall head over heels for. An open floor plan on the first floor allows you the perfect space for entertaining. The wood burning fireplace is perfect for those chilly nights. The kitchen has ample cabinetry and counter space and a walk-in pantry. On the second floor you will find the master suite featuring a balcony, walk-in closet, master bathroom with footed bathtub and shower stall. You will also find another bedroom and bathroom on the second floor along with your laundry area. Upstairs in the finished attic you will find a bonus room, the third bedroom, and a 1/2 bath.
