RC-1
Residential Conservation District
This district is intended to help implement the goal of the DeKalb County Unified Comprehensive Plan that new development should occur only on properties that are immediately adjacent to a municipality so that such properties may be annexed, rather than development occurring in unincorporated DeKalb County. Recognizing that there are existing residential uses, lots generally in the range of one acre in size and buildings in unincorporated DeKalb County that developed, or were designated for development, under significantly different regulations than those set forth in this Ordinance, this district is established to allow the conservation of such as legal, conforming uses, lots and buildings, to the extent such comply with the various regulations set forth herein. This district shall apply only to those properties so designated on the Zoning District Maps as of the effective date of this Ordinance, and shall not be subsequently applied to any other properties. This district is not intended to permit greater residential densities within the areas designated with this classification, nor to serve as a precedent for additional residential development in areas zoned A-1, Agricultural District. The map symbol and short name for this district shall be RC-1.
