Immerse yourself in nature surrounded by 102 acres of land donated to Lake Forest Open Lands and celebrated in the Westfork Savanna Press Release attached above. Adjacent to this land is an additional 109 acres of Nature Preserve to the North. This Mid-Century Modern masterpiece was designed by renowned architect, Edward Dart, and is located within the top rated STEVENSON HIGH School district. Rarely does one find a gem such as this. A sprawling 17.9 acre estate built in 1964. Dart's use of natural materials made him a unique mid-century modern architect. His use of local brick, "gives the house a touch of humanity", as he would say. This pure mid-century modern home with more than 7,000 square feet of living space has a pool, pool house (additional 325+ SF), a studio, 3-car garage, a 3-bedroom caretaker's cottage (additional 1,600+ SF), barn, outbuilding, paddocks, pond, and woods. This home transcends time with its innovative design and livable, warm spaces. It remains authentic and intact with its original plan - you will fall in love with the abundant natural light and mesmerizing views from the windows. Approaching the entrance, you will notice the barreled vault entry and custom-designed, two-inch-thick arched wooden door. Upon entering the home, you will be drawn to the eastern views of the grounds and atrium garden. Clerestory windows capture the light from the sky and the enormous brick hearth, the heart of the living room, enriches the lovely, grand space for entertaining. The large dining room, with a Dart-designed chandelier, overlooks the sparkling pool and pool house in the distance. The kitchen, with custom ebony wood cabinets, will delight with its original high-end stainless steel and black appliances. An additional butler's pantry, walk-in pantry, and breakfast room complete this extensive kitchen. The second-floor primary suite has sweeping views of the east and the adjacent 100+ acre forest preserve, with custom closets and original bathroom fixtures. The home boasts 3 additional second-floor bedrooms, one en-suite, and an additional pristine full bathroom. On the main level, there is a library/office with a full bathroom and guest suite with two bedrooms, one full bath, and a large sitting area. Additional features include a pool house with bathroom facilities and multiple areas for changing. There is also a separate studio with a full bath which can be utilized as a living space, an office, or art/yoga/exercise room. The home has been lovingly cared for and has one additional lot available for a separate building site on the grounds. This could be a very private family compound with multi-generational living possibilities. This truly spectacular home, grand and untouched, with strong lines yet graceful elegance, is a rare find. It blends beautifully with nature, and exudes warmth and comfort. Its rich history, its stunning design, and the privacy it offers, provides a truly amazing opportunity to live in such surroundings! A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

E
Estate District
The E, Estate and R-1 Districts are intended to accommodate low-density, large-lot residential development and to ensure the protection of areas that develop in such a manner. These districts are a higher density version of the very-low density RE District. Like the RE District, the E and R-1 Districts are expected to accommodate only a very small amount of the county’s overall housing needs. These districts primarily serve those households who desire to live in low-density estate areas and are willing to assume the costs of doing so. Because of the relatively sparse population in E-zoned and R-1-zoned areas, the county will not give high priority to the provision of public services in the areas. Instead, public service provision by the county will be concentrated in areas where more intense future development is called for by the Regional Framework Plan. The low densities permitted in the E and R-1 Districts generally permit in accordance with applicable Lake County Health Department rules; see Chapter 171 on-site, individual sewage disposal systems and wells, thereby reducing the need for inefficient public expenditures. The E and R-1 Districts are intended to implement and correspond to the Regional Framework Plan’s Residential-Medium Lot future land use designation.
