Just as most homes have a story to tell well this one has one with a view!! This house was built in 1973 by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers as a lock masters home in Freshwater Bayou. Unfortunately the flood waters from Hurricanes Ike and Rita hampered the efforts to rebuild. But with these good bones and a vision you could really make this a place to call home. It is constructed of center match cypress. House was originally on pilings and was fabricated to withstand 200 mph + hurricane winds. There are 7/8'' lag bolts on five foot centers bolting the floor joist to the ceiling joist. Frame construction is of non-finished ''true'' 2'' X XX'' material. Rafters are 2'' X 10''. Floor requires layer of tar paper, layer of 3/4'' luan plywood and then floor covering of your choosing. Air conditioner has all new parts. All windows were replaced with exception of two which are still in packing. Kitchen has been plumbed for use of propane gas. This house actually sits above the FEMA Guideline now and the Flood Insurance is less than $500 per year. There are beautiful Willow, Magnolia, and Oak Trees as well as different types of shrubs and wonderful lush St Augustine grass inside this completely fenced .99 acre lot. There is also a dock behind the house complete with a swing and a great view of Lake Peigneur meeting the Delcambre Canal. Get your preapproval and your fishing license - this could be the one you don''t want to get away!!!osing. Air conditioner has all new parts.
