The main house consists of 2 parts: the original farm house from the late 1700’s, and an 1885 addition added in back. The house has been thoroughly renovated, and has state of the art plumbing, heating, and electricity. Water is provided by a well, and has a purification, filtering system built in. The entire house has well maintained beautiful old plank wooden floors throughout, The house has a large, sunny, eat-in farm kitchen with state of the art stainless steel Dacor appliances, Well maintained knotty pine cupboards and stone counter tops for a truly farm feel to the kitchen. The house has a den off the kitchen with a Vermont Castings wood stove. There is a dining room, and another den with a pellet stove in the 1885 addition. There are 2 large bedrooms in the main house and another large bedroom in the addition, plus 2 smaller bedrooms in the addition one of which is currently used as an office. The 1875 addition was build around a large brick fireplace with a beehive oven, mantle place as well as baking ovens. This fireplace is in need of restoration, but is currently hidden within the walls of the addition. We have exposed one section within the dining area. The cellar is large and has both laundry area, as well as heating system and water filtration system area. The cellar also has a small 10 x 8ft cold cellar to store vegetables from the summer garden. We have owned this farm since 2008 and has been the fulfillment of a lifetime dream of having a self-sustaining small family farm. The property has far exceeded its’ expectations and has been a source of pleasure for all who have visited. Unfortunately health issues have mandated that we move to a smaller place, and so reluctantly, we must move on from this little piece of paradise. As the new location, wherever that may be, will be more of a residence than a small farm, there will be a lot of farm related equipment, farming tools, and furniture, and decor that will not be coming along. That will make the next owner’s life a lot easier as setup for milking, canning and preserving foods, gardening, animal maintenance, will be already there. We would even consider selling the goats and chickens if a new owner wanted to just step into our shoes and take over the reigns of the farm. We would even be available for a short time after purchase to assist in the transition, and help a new owner learn the secrets of providing food from the farm to your own table. This description does not do justice to the property, or to the house, so I have incorporated many photos in the add, as well as a virtual tour. But nothing compares to seeing the property in person, so if you think that you are ready to step out of the ratrace, and enjoy the simplicity of farm life while providing your family with provisions created by your own hands, come see the farm in person.
