PUD
Planned Unit Development District
The purpose of a Planned Unit Development District, PUD is to promote flexibility, economy and creativity of site design and architecture in residential, commercial, industrial and rural districts to preserve open space, scenic views and/or rural character while creating compact neighborhoods that have strong visual and physical access to open space, distinct identity and a sense of community. This method of development uses the size and shape of the open space as the central organizing element and may provide commonly-owned open space areas for active and/or passive recreational use by residents and/or the larger community.; A PUD may be allowed only through a request for rezoning in any agricultural, residential, business or industrial zoning district. For PUD developments in shoreland districts, refer also to the Shoreland Management Ordinance.
