Historic Glencairn - Just beyond Princeton, set amid deep, storied grounds, Glencairn is a rare and enduring private residence—one shaped by centuries of craftsmanship and careful stewardship. With origins dating to 1697, the house offers a quiet confidence that comes only from time, authenticity, and thoughtful evolution. Anchored by an early stone foundation, the residence reveals hand-laid masonry, original timber framing, and rooms of graceful proportion. These historic elements are balanced by a comprehensive architectural renovation by Ford3 Architects, which brought the home forward with modern systems while honoring its architectural soul. Radiant heat, zoned central air, updated plumbing and electrical, natural gas, city sewer, and a slate roof were seamlessly integrated to support comfortable, year-round living. The interiors unfold with a sense of permanence and ease. Formal rooms retain their architectural gravitas, while the great room—located in the home’s earliest section—is centered around a monumental walk-in fireplace that has anchored gatherings for generations. Six en-suite bedrooms, including two multi-room suites, provide flexibility for family and guests, while maintaining the privacy and flow expected of a refined residence. The expansive kitchen, complete with a walk-in pantry, is scaled for both daily life and relaxed entertaining. Outside, the grounds feel quietly cinematic. Three historic outbuildings enrich the setting: a relocated 19th-century barn offering versatile utility—whether garaging, recreation, or creative use—alongside an original stone smokehouse and the evocative remains of former stone stables that lend texture and depth to the landscape. While Glencairn has adapted gracefully to different chapters over its long history, the current offering is for the house and property themselves—a residence of uncommon architectural presence, thoughtfully modernized and deeply personal in scale. Celebrated in major publications and lovingly maintained, Glencairn is best suited to a buyer who values heritage, privacy, and the privilege of stewardship over time. A singular home, ready for its next chapter. Some photos may include virtual staging. Buyer to confirm square footage.

EP-1
Environmental Protection 1 District
The Environmental Protection 1 district is designed for low intensity uses primarily in the northwest area of the municipality where poor water yields and strata for septic systems dictate large lot development in an area of little or no public infrastructure and severe environmental constraints, including but not limited to, a seasonal high water table, shallow depth to bedrock, and steep slopes along the Stony Brook. Further, the purpose of the EP-1 district is to protect the environmental resources and qualities of this area, maintain the rural character of roads and scenic views, and retain farmland. The EP-1 designation is contrasted with the EP-2 district by being underlain with the Lockatong-Argillite geologic formation as depicted in the adopted Master Plan. Both the EP-1 and EP-2 districts, though poorly suited for development, are exceptional areas for non-irrigated agriculture. Because of this last factor, clustering of residential units is preferred whether under the provisions of this section or 428.
