This lot enjoys spectacular views of Alamogordo, and the Tularosa Basin to the west, and the New Mexico Museum of Space History and the Indian Wells Canyon to the North. See attached photos of the panoramic views! The north boundary of this lot adjoins the Lincoln national forest. The entire valley north of this subdivision is National Forest Property, affording assurance of an expansive undeveloped view of Indian Wells Canyon. This canyon is named after the numerous hand-ground wells in the stone, that exist within this area, made by Native Americans centuries ago. A small portion of this lot is encumbered by an easement for the Water Users Association water tanks. Canyon Hills subdivision is located within Otero County, outside the Alamogordo City Limits therefore municipal city water and sewer services are not available to the lots within the subdivision. Owners are responsible for installing their own state-approved septic system. Water is provided by the Canyon Hills Area Water Users Association, which owns two water wells that serve the subdivision. The Canyon Hills Area Water Users Association operates the private water system for Canyon Hills Subdivision. Each lot owner has one share in the water system. The Association holds an annual meeting once a year to update all members. Prior to beginning construction on their lot, the lot owner pays an initial hook-up fee, currently $250. Installation of the water meter, provided by the Association, is the responsibility of the lot owner and must be performed by an approved New Mexico- Licensed Plumber. Water is billed base upon consumption. This is an arid environment and water is precious. Desert landscaping is encouraged in order to reduce the demand on the water system.
