A-2
General Agricultural District
The Intent of the General Agricultural District is to recognize the long-range physical, social and economic needs of the agricultural community within Jefferson Township. Since agricultural pursuits provide a substantial economic base for Jefferson Township and many areas still exist which possess an existing agricultural character and prime agricultural soils, it is the intent of this district to maintain and protect such areas. Only those land uses which perform necessary functions within the agricultural community will be encouraged to locate within the General Agricultural District. Single family dwellings are permitted to locate within the General Agricultural District at a maximum density of one dwelling unit per three acres. Unnecessary encroachment by non-agricultural land uses which limits agricultural effectiveness either through encroachment of land resources or through incompatibility of land uses will be discouraged.
