Solid Brick Cape Cod with character & charm in quaint Akron Boro. This property has been well cared for by the same family since 1961. The 1,806 square foot home has spacious living areas. The large sunny living room features original pecan hard wood flooring. The classic brick faced wood burning fireplace will be the perfect spot for the those annual holiday photos. The kitchen has painted wood cabinets, and a custom built in china cabinet to display your family heirlooms. The same salvaged wood was used by the homeowner who built the bankette, wood framed mirror, and wood shelf. This precious wood was salvaged from a historic Lancaster County building decades ago. The kitchen also has a pantry closet for food storage. On the main level you will also find 2 spacious bedrooms (we believe there is wood flooring under carpets), and a full bath. On the 2nd level there are 2 additional bedroom and a 2nd full bath with step in shower. Off the kitchen you will find a screened in porch and open deck. Imagine what you can do with these spaces! On the lower level you will have access to the deep 1 car garage, laundry area, and bright open family room and game room with dry bar. You will appreciate the wall of built in shelving hidden behind tall doors. The wood top on bar was salvaged from the old Cornwall train station. This property is waiting for its new owners. The perfect place to gather and celebrating the annual holidays, birthday parties, all those moments that make a home a home. The cherry on top is the area outdoors we like to call “The secrete garden”. The hand laid circle of brick pavers will be the foundation of your outdoor dining table. All that’s missing are the Edison lights hung from the tree over head . Don’t forget to walk down the steps to the lower grass lot as well. There you will find a shed, room to garden, or play outdoor games in the shade of the now tall trees these home owners planted decades ago. * * * * * Sellers preferred settlement date to be on or after 11/14/2022 * * * * * 1 year home warranty included * * * * 24 hour notice required for all showings. * OFFER DEADLINE- OFFER RECEIVED. R-1
Residential - 1 District
From the late 1950s to the present, the type of housing in the Borough changed substantially from that found in the central core of the Borough to that found in those areas other than the central core.; The primary type of housing previously was single-family detached dwellings on small lots. Such dwellings were constructed of wood or similar materials, with very small yards.; That changed in the 1950s and continues to this day, so that almost all the construction of single-family detached dwellings has been on substantially larger lots 12,000 square feet or more, and a substantial number of those dwellings have been built of brick, stone or masonry and have significant setbacks and yards. The purpose of the R-1 District is to recognize the historical evolution of those types of dwellings in those areas and to preserve that legitimate dwelling type for future generations. The Borough has made adequate provisions for other types of dwellings in its other districts and believes that the preservation of single-family detached dwellings on what are relatively large lots although quite small compared to surrounding municipalities and surrounding townships is a legitimate community development objective of the Borough that shall be pursued.
