C-1
Community Commercial District
The purpose of the C-1 district is to support and foster a functional and aesthetically pleasing local commercial district along Edgmont Avenue that capitalizes upon its proximity to nearby residential neighborhoods of the Borough. The district provides areas for small to medium-size retail and service establishments that cater to the daily and semi-regular convenience needs of residents of the Borough and neighboring municipalities and contains design guidelines to enable local access to retail and service establishments on foot or other alternate means of transport, while providing adequate parking and circulation for automobiles. The district is also intended to provide for the retention of existing natural features along the Edgmont Avenue corridor in Brookhaven and to incorporate plantings, landscaping, shade trees and other natural components into new development and redevelopment.
