Rarely does an opportunity to live in one of Unionville's finest, historic and restored homes come to market. This 5 bedroom, 3.1 bath home was originally built as Unionville Academy in 1834 and has been completely remodeled with top of the line craftsmanship while maintaining all its original elegance and olde world charm! As you enter into the spacious home you'll be immediately captivated by the soaring 12 foot ceilings, handcrafted custom painted bookcases, custom cabinetry, antique chandeliers, original hardwood floors, 3 fireplaces and 7' high recessed windows. Enjoy the warm and inviting living room with custom bookcases and floor to ceiling fireplace. The gourmet kitchen has custom cabinetry, granite counters, sub zero refrigerator, 6 burner stove, two pantries and a charming fireplace creating a perfect space for entertaining. Off the kitchen is an amazing large new addition with beamed vaulted ceilings, built in custom wet bar and French Doors leading to the brick patio and spectacular backyard gardens. This room is being used as a dining room but can easily be converted into a family room, first floor master bedroom, or in-law suite. A smaller room in the back of the addition with windows overlooking the yard could be used as an office, exercise room or home office. The addition includes an attached over-sized 2.5 car garage with large unfinished room above. On the second floor you will find a spacious master suite with remodeled master bath with tiled shower, soaking tub, pedestal sink and walk-in closet. Three more nice sized bedrooms with hall bath and laundry room complete this level. The newly renovated third floor, with exposed beams and chimneys, is a great space which receives an incredible amount of light from 12 skylights. Currently used as a 5th bedroom with ensuite bathroom that could also be used as a great room, media/game room, or artist's studio. All systems have been upgraded. Radiant heated floors in original building. Generator, public sewer system. Located in award winning Unionville-Chadds Ford School District less than 2 miles to ES, MS & HS!
