Agricultural District
The Agricultural District protects and enhances the Township’s strong agricultural heritage, farming economy and rural character, by permitting, agricultural uses and related support services and with limited exceptions, compatible, non-agricultural uses, which complement and bolster farm related activities, including limited residential development and limited public facilities. New development should not be fragmented or cause adverse effects, resulting from encroachment or mixing of incompatible development, upon prime agricultural areas and prime agricultural soils Class I-III. Therefore, nonagricultural development should be carefully planned and designed to not only foster development of new and expansion of existing agricultural land uses and related activities, but more importantly preserve prime agriculture and farm land continuity while considering topography, soil type and classification, and present use. Standards and regulations are designed for the protection and stabilization of characteristics essential for the advancement of agricultural and related enterprises. The provisions of this District regulate the siting, density, and design of development to assure the availability of reliable, safe, and adequate water supplies to support the intended land uses within the capacity of available water resources. Lands within the Agricultural District are not intended to be served with public water and sewer.
