HMU
Highway Mixed-Use District
The purpose of the highway mixed-use district HMU is to allow a mixture of residential and non-residential development along state highways or farm-to-market roads, as designated by the Texas Department of Transportation, either as a single use or multiple-uses within the same building or located on the same lot see Figure 1: Building Use Examples. It is the intent of this section to allow a use in existence at the time that the HMU is adopted to remain as a conforming building use, even if the use was non-conforming in the existing zoning district prior to the adoption of the HMU.
