NMU
Neighborhood Mixed Use Zone
The purposes of the neighborhood mixed use zone are to: Provide for a mix of single-family and multi-family residential uses, together with appropriate scale, compatible commercial development, limited in area, height and materials, as appropriate, to serve the nearby neighborhood areas.; Through a planned center development process, designate appropriate areas for each of the uses identified in subsection A1 of this section that may be included in the development in relationship to existing housing, roadways and interchanges.; Provide for the creation of developments that combine village scale residential and complementary retail that can serve as the center for surrounding residential neighborhoods.; Provide standards for site design, architecture, landscaping and circulation that are representative of Farmington City's rural agricultural heritage and encourage walking and bicycling for recreation and daily errands.; Provide for medium density residential development, where appropriate, to serve as a buffer between single-family and commercial development; Preserve the residential character of main street and protect residential uses within and adjacent to NMU zones.; Integrate the city's master transportation plans with internal traffic circulation and pedestrian pathways to ensure public safety.
