The Armistead Curtis Farm acquired the nickname “Willow Burner” during the Civil War resulting from the production of charcoal on the site. The exact date of construction of the original house is uncertain but it passed by will to Armistead Curtis from his father, Henry, in 1862. Dr. Curtis, who was married to President John Tyler’s sister, acquired the land in 1820. The current owners have fully restored the old parts of the house and added a master suite with fireplace and balcony, a family room with fireplace, and a greatly enlarged kitchen with pantry and breakfast room. Sitting in a park-like setting on 3.8 acres the property has a two-car garage and a garden shed.

Agricultural District
The purpose of this district is to provide for a full range of agricultural activities and to protect agricultural land, as one of the county's most valuable natural resources, from the depreciating effect of objectionable, hazardous, and unsightly uses. The district is also intended for protection of watersheds, water resources, forest areas, and scenic values, and at the same time to provide for spacious residential development for those who choose this environment and to prevent untimely scattering of more dense urban uses which should be confined to areas planned for efficient extension of public service.
