VILLAGE
Village District
Lincolns Village District encompasses four separate geographic districts in Town: West Lincoln, Downingsville, Lincoln Village and South Lincoln. The Village District is designed to continue the Town’s present settlement pattern of a compact village center and other more populated hamlets containing levels of commercial activity appropriate for the Village District, surrounded by a transitional area and more rural countryside. Densities in the Village District are greater than the surrounding areas to reflect and continue the existing development pattern and to promote a variety of housing types that are within walking distance to shops and public facilities. The Village District is also designed to encourage a setting where a sense of community and safety may develop and to encourage development in the village center or hamlets as a viable development alternative away from wetlands, wildlife habitat areas, and from productive agricultural and forest lands. Lastly, the Village District is designed to encourage a variety of housing types that provide access to affordable housing for all of Lincolns residents.
