With Sunday night’s Golden Globes awards ceremony just around the corner, Redfin took a look at where the best actor and actress nominees spend their time off-camera. While many of the nominees come from countries outside the U.S., including Cate Blanchett, Judi Dench, Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet, most reside on this side of the pond. Read on for more on the homes of these fabulous actors and actresses.

Cate Blanchett resides in Sydney, Australia, with her playwright husband Andrew Upton. According to Ecorazzi.com, the couple is planning to do $1.5 million dollars worth of renovations on their $10 million dollar home to make it more eco-friendly. The renovations will include water recycling, a 20,000-litre water tank, solar paneling and energy-saving lights. Blanchett is also rumored to have purchased waterfront property on the island of Vanuatu, in the South Pacific Ocean.

Sandra Bullock – “Gravity”

America’s sweetheart, Sandra Bullock, currently owns two homes in the Los Angeles area, including one in Beverly Hills, which she purchased in 2011 for $16.19 million. The seven bedroom, eight-bath estate sits on more than four acres, with views of the L.A. city skyline. It also comes with a tennis court, pool, guest house, gym, and a screening room. Her other home is located in the Trousdale Estates area of Los Angeles. She purchased it for $1.485 million in 2001, perhaps for a friend or family member. But those aren’t the only homes in her real estate portfolio. Bullock also owns homes in Austin, New Orleans, Tybee Island, GA, Jackson Hole, WY and New York City.

Judi Dench – “Philomena”

Dench lives in the Outwood area of Redhill, in Surrey England. Her historical home, known as “Wasp Green,” was built in 1680 and sits on five acres. She shares the home with her daughter, Finty Williams, her daughter’s son, and assorted animals, including nine cats. According to Atgbcentral.com, “The front of the house is bright, tidy, and picturesque in a Country Life sort of way; the back acres, however, have been left alone, with only a small path cut through a thicket of brambles, nettles, and wild orchids.”

Emma Thompson – “Saving Mr. Banks”

Thompson’s home is located in West Hampstead Square, a suburb of London. According to More.com, “There aren’t many clues to tell you that you’re standing outside the home of one of Britain’s most exalted film actresses. There’s the pretty rose, a touch of pink against the gray, in the front garden and a climbing hydrangea that gives the house an air of secrecy. But otherwise it’s just an ordinary semidetached house in an ordinary street in an ordinary suburb of London.” According to The Telegraph, Thompson also spends half the year in Scotland, not far from Dunoon, Argyll.

Kate Winslet “Labor Day”

According to The Argus, Winslet owns a £2 million country home near Midhurst, in Sussex. The home is located near Petersfield, by the Hampshire border. It was built in the 15th century and sits on 5.72 acres. Winslet and her husband, Ned Rocknroll, moved there shortly after their wedding in December 2012. Rocknroll (who legally changed his name) is the nephew of Virgin tycoon Richard Branson.

According to public records, he purchased his home in 2007 for £895,000, and has plans to enlarge it, creating a rooftop terrace with a spiral staircase and balustrade. Zoopla.co.uk lists the home as having three bedrooms and two baths.

In June 2012, Elba told Vulture.com that he’s too busy traveling to settle down. “I don’t have a place that I call home at the moment because there’s no point. I mean, I’m a traveling circus for a while. It’s weird. Like, if I wanted to go home, there’s nowhere to go. I just go to a hotel. But I’ve kind of gotten used to it,” he said. He once owned a home in London, located at 7 Wallace Rd, where he used to throw wild parties while filming season one of “Luther.” He now uses “7 Wallace” as his DJ name, his part time hobby.

When he’s in the states, he often stays with his ex-wife Kim Elba, where she and their daughter live. The home is located in Duluth, GA, outside of Atlanta. We may be seeing a lot more of the home soon; according to StraightfromtheA.com, Kim has been propositioned to appear on a new VH1 show that will be a spin-off of “Hollywood Exes.”

Tom Hanks – “Captain Phillips”

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are fans of the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles. They own three homes there, and another in Malibu, CA. The largest home, and presumably their primary residence, spans 14,500 square feet, with four bedrooms and five baths. The couple purchased it in 2010 for a whopping $26,081,000 million. The modern architectural home was designed by Gwathmey Siegel & Associates, and was once home to producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy.

Their other homes in the Pacific Palisades, which could be used by friends and family, include a one-bedroom, one-bath purchased in 2010 for $1.45 million and a four bedroom, six-bath home purchased in 1996. Their home in Malibu has four bedrooms, three baths, and spans 1,785 square feet. It was purchased in 1991 for $2.95 million. The Real Estalker reports that they also own a ski house in Telluride, CO, a multi-million dollar residence near Sun Valley, ID, and a New York City condo.

Matthew McConaughey – “Dallas Buyers Club”

Matthew McConaughey has generated a lot of buzz this year for his Golden Globe nomination for Dallas Buyers Club. If he wins, he’ll have plenty of space to celebrate in his $4 million home in Malibu that he bought in 2007. The four bedroom, three bath home was built in 1949 and sits on a lot of more than 49,000 square feet, giving McConaughey plenty of private outdoor space. In fact, McConaughey is frequently found surfing nearby.

Robert Redford – “All Is Lost”

Robert Redford’s love affair with Sundance, UT, where he now lives, started early in life. He bought his first two acres of land in 1961 for $500 and built a rustic cabin. And by rustic, we mean no running water. Redford told Men’s Journal in 2005 that he and his wife would snowshoe to the cabin carrying their young kids on their backs and would melt snow for water. Since then, he has purchased much more land, grown the Sundance Film Festival into a full-blown enterprise, and joined the Natural Resources Defense Council’s board to help preserve the area’s natural resources. According to Men’s Journal, he also owns homes in Napa Valley and Santa Fe.

Amy Adams – “American Hustle”

Amy Adams, who is known for her raw, emotional roles in films like The Fighter, is back at it again this year with a Golden Globe nomination for American Hustle. Adams bought her Connecticut style ranch house in the Beverly Crest neighborhood for $3.2 million in 2010. The home is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac, just minutes from the heart of Beverly Hills, and includes a gated pool, spa and astonishing ocean and city views. The purchase of her home coincided with the birth of her daughter, Aviana. According to The Real Estalker, “An electronic drive gate opens to a small flagstone motor court lined with lush plantings…note how the landscaping palette has been kept to just green things, a choice that along with the frosted glass paned garage doors lends a contemporary vibe to an otherwise architecturally traditional house.”

Julie Delpy – “Before Midnight”

The Paris-born actress moved to Los Angeles and into her West Hollywood home over a decade ago. Her modest abode, which she purchased in 1998 for $545,000, is just 930 square feet and was built in 1923. Despite her long and successful career—she starred in her first film at the age of 14—Delpy is a Hollywood underdog and gets her films financed in France, where her fame is more widespread. Her modest reputation in Hollywood might be impacting her real estate choices. She told the New York Times in May 2013, “I’ll never have five houses, so what, I just need one. Which I can’t have yet because I can’t get a loan!”

Greta Gerwig – “Frances Ha”

Gerwig has a lot in common with her character in “Frances Ha,” including her living situation; a shared apartment in New York. The actress told NYmag.com,“I recognize that maybe I should be at a point where I stop having roommates, but I’m not.” Her roommates include set designer Sam Lisenco and film producer Oscar Boyson. The apartment is located on the fourth floor of a building in Chinatown.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus – “Enough Said”

Despite her ongoing Seinfeld fame and her starring role in the critically acclaimed HBO series “Veep,” 2013 marked Louis-Dreyfus’ first live-action film performance in 16 years.  America’s favorite feisty leading lady bought her oceanfront Pacific Palisades home in 1994 for $1 million. The home has five bedrooms, five baths, over 5,000 square feet and was built in 1929. According to the New York Times, Louis-Dreyfus and her husband completed a massive renovation of the home in 2003, adding high-end energy efficient features and a motorized sunroof. Aerial shots of her home and other celebrity homes are available on CelebrityHousePictures.com.

Meryl Streep – “August: Osage County”

It’s no surprise that Hollywood veteran Meryl Streep is up for another award nomination. And it’s no surprise that her Central Los Angeles home is just as modern and fabulous as she is. Streep bought her four bedroom, 3.5 bath house in February 2013 for $4.5 million. It was built in 1954 and has an architectural look and feel. According to Curbed Los Angeles, the property is Architectural Products’s 1954 Research House, which was originally designed by Honnold & Rex and recently majorly remodeled by Xorin Balbes. The home sits on 15,560 square feet and has sweeping canyon and city views. With all that land, it’s no surprise that the home is equipped with an in-ground pool, spa, hot tub and enclosed patio.

Hollywood heavyweight Christian Bale proved that he’ll do anything to portray his latest character, including gaining 43 pounds to play Irving Rosenfeld in American Hustle. Between roles, you can find Bale in his $1.3 million home in the Rustic Canyon neighborhood of Santa Monica. He and his wife bought the home in 2001, just a year and a half after they got married. The house, which is also now home to their eight year old daughter Emmeline, has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and is nearly 2,000 square feet. It sits on just over 6,000 square feet of private, gated outdoor space and was built in 1923.

Bruce Dern – “Nebraska”

Bruce Dern resides in Pasadena, Calif. in his 2,554 square foot home that he and his wife purchased in 2004 for $1.01 million. The home has three bedrooms, three baths and sits on a lot of nearly 19,000 square feet. The home was built in 1951. According to the Pasadena Weekly, Dern, who runs to stay in shape, is frequently spotted jogging from his home in the South Arroyo neighborhood, around the Rose Bowl, and back.

Leonardo DiCaprio – “The Wolf Of Wall Street”

Much like his character in “Wolf of Wall Street,” Leonardo DiCaprio is living large, but at least his wealth comes from legitimate sources. DiCaprio owns at least three homes in the Los Angeles area. His main residence is located on the “Bird Streets” above the Sunset Strip, and is actually two combined properties. He bought the first property in 1999 for $2.515 million. It was once owned by Madonna, and features a home gym, pool, spa, wine cellar, and a master suite with a large dressing room. In 2004 he purchased the home next door for $2.268 million, an ivy-covered villa with four bedrooms, six baths, and 5,500 square feet. DiCaprio also owns a home in Malibu, which he purchased in 1998 for $1.6 million, and he just sold another home he owned in the ‘Bu, for $17.35 million.

Oscar Isaac grew up in Miami, the son of a doctor who bounced around from hospital to hospital. He told Hitfix.com that he lived “in Baltimore and then Louisiana – a couple of different places in Louisiana and then Miami – a couple of different places in Miami, then up to the kind of Palm Beach area – a couple of different places there, and back down to Miami.” After attending school at Juilliard, Isaac remained in the New York area, and now lives in a Williamsburg condo in Brooklyn. He told Freep.com that Llewyn Davis would fit in in his neighborhood: “I know countless musicians who are having the same struggle, and not just musicians but actors and artists who are frustrated because they have something to say but no one wants to hear it.”

Joaquin Phoenix – “Her”

In April 2013 Joaquin Phoenix purchased his next door neighbor’s house in Los Angeles for $1,390,700. The three bedroom, three bath home spans 2,500 square feet, and comes with a master suite with tons of built-ins, a huge closet and a re-done bath. There’s also a gym, office, maid’s quarters, and grassy yard with a custom outdoor fireplace and stone waterfall. His existing home was purchased on November 7, 2006 for $4.835 million, and was featured many times in the mockumentary “I’m Still Here.”
