Florida Dominates May’s Most Expensive Home Sales, Led by a $75 Million Boca Raton Deal

A Boca Raton mansion within a private golf course community and two apartments in New York City are among May’s most expensive home sales.

A massive waterfront estate in Boca Raton, two ultra-luxury Manhattan properties, and several waterfront Florida estates were among May’s most expensive home sales.

A sprawling estate in Boca Raton, FL claimed the title of most expensive U.S. home sale in May, selling for $75 million in the private golf course community of Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club. Next comes another Florida property, a luxury estate in Manalapan, fetching $62.5 million.

The Sunshine State dominated the ultra-luxury market, accounting for half of May’s 10 most expensive home sales. A recent Redfin analysis found that the luxury market in  West Palm Beach is booming, partly due to billionaires moving in. Florida’s concentration of waterfront estates and favorable tax environment continue to attract wealthy buyers from across the country.

New York secured two spots, a pair of ultra-luxury apartments in the same  Upper West Side tower. A mountain house in Aspen, CO is another one of May’s priciest sales, with a Lake Tahoe compound and a Malibu beach house rounding out the top 10.

May’s top two sales surpassed $60 million, and all 10 sold for at least $30 million, underscoring the continued strength of the luxury housing market despite broader housing-market headwinds.
