I am writing to share feedback regarding my recent experience with your sales agent, Charles. My wife and I have bought and sold multiple homes over the past decade, and unfortunately, this was by far the most disappointing experience we have encountered. We chose Redfin largely because of the 1.5% commission structure, but we quickly realized that the reduced fee came at the expense of service quality. You get what you pay for. Throughout the process, we received little to no guidance from Charles. Had we not been experienced buyers and sellers ourselves, the outcome could have been significantly worse. From the beginning, the home was listed at an unrealistically high price in March. When we asked Charles about marketing strategies after receiving little traffic, his responses were limited to hosting additional open houses and sending email blasts. Rather than proactively presenting creative solutions, it fell upon me to suggest strategies such as rate buy-downs or seller concessions to make the property more attractive. His consistent advice was simply to reduce the price. At one point, I even expressed my frustration by telling him I could have managed the process myself with a red pen and slashing the price - yet I had expected him, as our agent, to bring expertise, strategy, and initiative. When we eventually received an offer, Charles merely forwarded it to us without explanation, recommendations, or negotiation guidance. My wife and I had to dissect the offer ourselves, line by line, and determine our response without professional input. This lack of advocacy and support persisted throughout the entire negotiation process, leaving us to manage the complexities on our own. Adding to our frustration, during this time several friends asked for our realtor’s information as they were preparing to sell their own homes. Regrettably, I could not recommend Charles given our experience. In hindsight, I could have paid a full 3% commission to a more capable and engaged agent, and sold the house at the same price back in March/April and been better off. He was also very difficult to get in touch with. For example, last Friday he informed us that the buyers wanted to move the closing date up from Wednesday, the 20th, to Monday, the 18th. We agreed to the change but received no instructions, despite signing being scheduled in Florida on Wednesday. I sent several text messages on Friday requesting information about how the Monday closing would be handled, but received no response. On Monday morning, I followed up again, and Charles did not respond until nearly six hours later—by which point I had already coordinated the process myself and was seated at the closing table with the notary. This once again highlights how I was forced to resolve critical matters on my own in order to ensure the transaction moved forward. Overall, this experience was deeply disappointing. We expected professionalism, guidance, and advocacy, but instead felt unsupported at every stage of the transaction. I felt it was important to share this feedback with you directly. His advice and attention to detail was helpful. we being first time home buyers were not aware of many aspects of home buying, but Charles with his expertise was always with us suggesting what needs to checked in detail and he even provided us with contacts to home inspection, Lenders, Home Warranty etc. We would strongly recommend Charles for real estate services and we are very glad to work with him. 5 STARs
