When it comes to buying a home, they say it’s one of the most stressful life events. Not to mention, when buying a home from across the country, in a brand new city, while expecting, and on a time crunch before our current lease is up, that is even more chaotic, distressing and exhausting!!! However, when we worked Ebony Onyemu, our incredible Real Estate Agent, she was not only our saving grace, she made our family’s dream come true!!! In fact, we closed on our beautiful home within a few weeks, which put us ahead of schedule to pack and move, all before the holidays! Before we worked with Ebony, we actually found a different home we were interested in, which was represented by another real estate agent. Although the home tour didn’t work out for us, naturally, we stuck with him because he was kind and seemed helpful without being pushy. Before we flew back home, we found another house that we liked and he assisted us in making the offer. Soon, we were faced with a crazy bidding war involving multiple buyers. We went through several rounds of offers sent back and forth for weeks. Throughout this entire nightmare, we felt that we were not provided with the correct guidance and recommendations in a timely matter in order to have a successful negotiation and offer made. Plus, communication by email, phone and texts were always delayed, sometimes up to days. It was just frustrating and exhausting being in the dark about everything…Living far away from it made things worse. Overall, we felt that we weren’t prioritize nor were our needs, even though it was understood how stressed out we were given our tight timeline… In the end, that home did not work out. After this, we sent our real estate agent two lists of homes that we were interested in, hoping if we did some of the work, it would help him out. When we didn’t hear back within a few days, we followed up only to find out nothing has been done yet… Luckily, we found another house that we liked and it turns out Ebony represented the home. When we told our real estate agent about it, once again, we did not hear back. As a result, we made the decision to contact Ebony ourselves to get more information and we instantly connected with her. Even though she knew that we were contracted with another real estate agent, she was still willing to assist us with a video house tour at 7 p.m. our time, 9 p.m. her time…Throughout the tour, she was not only genuine, warm and welcoming, she was honest and very helpful with the information and resources that she provided us. After the house tour, my husband and I knew we had to revisit our drawing board. When we reviewed our timeline, we definitely felt the weight to buy a house ASAP.
