The sellers had a language barrier that Joe managed to work through, and even helped us try to understand the seller's cultural differences. Joe was extremely responsive to all kinds of questions I had as a buyer. Not only was Joe responsive, but he would also respond in a timely manner. As Redfin brokers and agents deal in a larger volume of sales than other real estate companies, at times, I felt more like a number than a number one priority, but... this being said, the service Joe provided still far exceeded my expectations, and the Redfin refund was an added bonus!

We didn't feel great about our experience with Joe. It might just be how Redfin works, but we barely heard from him after reaching mutual acceptance with the Seller. We did not feel he was really representing our interests in the negotiations--he seemed very motivated to make a deal and did not have any suggestions for how to respond to the Seller's agent. It kind felt like he was there as a formality but didn't give us much advice, other than seeming to add pressure to an already very intense situation. If we had ever talked to him again we could have talked to him about this but we never saw him again. Joe was great! We put in an offer on very short notice and he was incredibly available, informative, and provided a number of options on how to approach the offer. Given the market right now, we were a bit shocked to actually win the offer, and we owe a lot of that to Joe. The only quibble was that he didn't fully align with our views on density and walkability as top values, so we had a few conversations where we talked past each other. Totally understandable though as we didn't work together very long and didn't have much of a chance to get to know each other.

During the stressful experience of buying a house, Joe Hunt was incredibly supportive and educational without being condescending. The seller's agent was very trying, and the seller was not particularly helpful, either. From offer to close, we spent about two months going back and forth with the seller’s side; Joe handled it all with poise and a sense of humor, doing his best to keep us calm throughout the process. I would absolutely recommend Joe to anyone and we'll be using him in the future…although we love our new house and have no plans to move anytime soon. :)

Dealing with Joe was a pleasure. As opposed to other agents, who always seem to pressure you to close, Joe would point out aspects of homes that should give you pause -- ex: whether the view and natural light could disappear within a few years, due to a potential lot for condos/highrises. Joe helped advise on nearly every aspect of the hunt, made himself available for questions at the drop of a hat, and then was effective in sealing the deal when a place I loved came on the market. The only single criticism I have is that he once misjudged how quick one home would go off the market -- he gave it a few days, but it ended up being much longer, and had its price dropped before it got snatched up. I toured over 50 homes and found Joe's advice about value, location, and timing to be right on the mark. We put in an offer on 2 homes and we feel we would have been able to close if we had a better agent. We felt Joe was not very proactive and lacked good negotiation skills. As a real estate agent, we had expected Joe to provide us recommendations or good advice during crucial times(considering we are first time home buyers) - we didn't get from him - he was more of an order-taker instead. We never felt a personal relationship with him which is very important to us. We are in the market since March, but Joe never followed up with us regarding how our search was coming along! Overall, the experience was NOT smooth but rather frustrating and stressful.
