This was my first time buying a home, and I didn’t have my own realtor. I was paired with Johanna through Redfin when I scheduled a property showing, and I consider myself incredibly lucky. These pairings can often be hit or miss, but I truly couldn’t have asked for a better agent. In the past, I had been paired with another realtor who seemed more focused on their commission and expected me to already know everything about buying a home - so my experience with Johanna was like night and day. Buying your first home can feel intimidating - not only because of the financial and logistical aspects, but also because it’s such an emotional and meaningful decision. Johanna made the entire process approachable and manageable. She is transparent, responsible, knowledgeable, patient, organized, and friendly, but more importantly, she is empathetic and kind. She took the time to explain each step of the process, pointed out details about properties I wouldn’t have noticed, and helped keep me on track through every stage. There are naturally many ups and downs in the home-buying journey, from viewing and making offers to navigating escrow and closing. At one point, we almost closed on a property but had to pull out after discovering issues with the HOA. Even with the challenges, it was reassuring to know I had a someone I could trust behind me. Johanna helped me close on a unit that was perfect. We came in on-target at the price range in a great location. We initially looked at quite a few properties and I gave her a 6 month window and we found an apartment within a month. She was very attentive to my needs and pointed out a few flaws and made some great recommendations. She listened to everything I needed and after searching some target areas, we found the perfect place that checked off all the boxes. Her communication was attentive and timely often having answers by the end of the day. During escrow, she came in with some great inspectors that found a few red flags and we were able to negotiate on those items. Her negotiation skills with the owners and realtors were excellent!
