I have to say, this was a difficult deal from beginning to end (which, in our current real estate market, is not uncommon). I feel Katrina did a great job trying to get my offer to the seller soon after I toured the house with Denise. Katrina and her team made our home buying experience a breeze. Redfin's electronic signature process enabled us to sign documents electronically which saved a lot of time and meant that we didn't have to meet in person. Katrina was very responsive - she has great communication skills and always got back to us in a timely manner. One of the things we liked most about our experience with Katrina and Redfin was that there was never any pressure to close the deal or compromise. We went through two escrows with Katrina, and when we determined that the first home wasn't quite working for us, we moved on to the next opportunity and she was okay with that. It was very difficult to reach Katrina by phone or email and because we were not be able to sit down with her face-to-face to put together the offer, it was challenging to build a relationship. Our phone conservations were brief and she was not proactive about explaining the process, which left us with many questions. We had some questions that went completely unanswered and we felt like we were misguided on the offer price we submitted for the property we tried to buy.

Our goal is to always be professional but we may get a bit too friendly at times. As for as the details relating to this transaction - this was a bank-owned property, and each bank does things differently. The listing office representing this listing was specific in the way requests were presented to the bank. For example, we asked for a large price reduction of $42,000 as the appraisal came in that far under the purchase price and that addendum needed to be written 'bank' specific. Additionally, the repair request had to be crafted to meet the bank's specifications because we were asking for a major mold remediation job of $11,000 in addition to several other repairs and termite work. I pushed for the mold remediation even though there were other needed repairs because mold can be serious. As a result I was able to obtain both a price reduction and mold remediation with drywall and floors restored to original for my client, resulting in an overall $53,000 savings for my client - a significant achievement on a REO listing.5.0

I thought Katrina and team did an excellent job. She made herself or another agent available anytime we needed to view the home, she responded to all of my inquiries quickly and she reminded me of upcoming deadlines and items I should be thinking about in a timely manner. She was extremely knowledgable in all aspects of the purchase process. The only reason I didn't give her a 10 is because I would have liked to have been included on emails or kept more informed on what she was doing on her end (i.e. I would have liked to have seen her communications or been more aware of her discussions with seller's agent and escrow). I realize that many buyers would not like to be copied on all of this correspondence but I would have liked to have been given that option to decide.

She was very helpful and supportive. It was a tough situation (our first house) but she helped us through it. I think this market is confusing for everyone and the hiccups that come up must be expected and with the help of our agent we got our dream house. Even though we saw lots of houses and I was starting to think that we should settle for anything, Katrina told us not to compromise and the right house will come up. And it did. The only trouble we had was with inter-agent communication: we received multiple requests for the same forms, or submitted a form only to have it be requested by another Redfin agent.
