I first considered Redfin as my selling agent after reading an article in the Economist ("Tearing Down The House" in the 2.15.20 edition) about ways in which technology is poised to upend the real estate market in America. Redfin was highlighted as company which employed advanced analytics to generate optimal pricing, as well as offering discounted seller's fees. As someone who works with data for a living, and is cheap, both value propositions appealed to me. I also knew that Redfin is the starting point for many buyers looking for a home, so my assumption was that there would be some additional marketing benefits to working with Redfin as well. My expectations of the pros of working with Redfin going into the experience were that I'd save money on the agent fees, it would be listed at the best price, and I'd receive a higher volume of interested buyers from Redfin's email and social media marketing, and promoted placement within the website and app. My expected con to working with Redfin was that I'd likely get a less experienced, lower touch agent earning on volume rather than quality. I am very happy to report that I was correct about all of my expected pros, and dead wrong about my expected con. Laura is an experienced, savvy, detail-oriented agent who went the extra mile to ensure that we extracted every dollar of possible value out of my property. Her skills and diligence, combined with Redfin's pricing tools and marketing distribution, were extraordinarily effective. The best, most objective proof of this to me is that an identical unit to mine was posted for sale by a high end competitive agency (Berkshire-Hathaway Luxury Properties) at the exact same time, and when we closed escrow, that property was still unsold at a price 9% lower than our sale price. Keep in mind, too, that the other seller was paying at least 1% more in commission fees. I cannot recommend Redfin, and Laura, more highly. 10 out of 10.
