It took us over two years to finally find and purchase the right house and Marshall was very patient and helpful throughout the whole process!

Marshall provided excellent customer service throughout the bidding process. The property I bid on was subject to a bidding war immediately after being listed, and Marshall had to coordinate with me to get an offer in while I was out of town. All things considered, the process went very smoothly. I was able to get my offer in soon enough to be considered, although the seller ultimately rejected it and went with another bidder. I was glad to see that Marshall advised me not to waive standard financing and appraisal contingencies. I am sure that many other realtors would advise their clients to waive these contingencies (possibly to their own detriment) just to make it a bit more likely for the offer to go through and generate some commission income for the realty company.

As others mentioned, Marshall was always very responsive with all communications, usually returning most phone calls or replying to e-mails within minutes (our e-mail exchanges were practically IM sessions). He aggressively negotiated on our behalf to get the best deal, but was always reasonable and professional (especially when the listing agent became "difficult" to work with). He made it clear that he would do whatever we asked of him and that the final decision with all aspects of the deal rested with us, but still offered us plenty of advice and guidance every step of the way. That being said, the rest of the team was not at the same level. The agent who attended our home inspection was not helpful and the individual at the office actually sent us to the wrong place for our closing (even though the company had moved 2 months prior). Ok. I will say I was somewhat apprehensive before using Redfin. Lots of the "traditional" real estate agents seem to bash them at every opportunity. The company may not be for everyone (ie if you need a lot of hand holding and aren't comfortable looking up properties on your own). But Marshall and the other agents I worked with definitely sold me on this company. Although I was warned they would never answer the phone and were too overworked, Marshall was extremely attentive and responded to all of my calls very quickly. If anything I felt like he was always waiting to hear back from me. He had a very good knowledge of the local market and relationships with sellers' agents, which came in handy. Marshall was great. Very responsive. We came across a very nice, well-priced property. It was our first offer with Redfin and we had to respond quickly as there were 5 other bidders on the property. Marshall had to jump right in and turn things around very quickly which he did admirably. While we eventually didn't get the home, choosing not to get into a bidding war a la the early 2000s, we felt that that the home was ours if we had wanted it because Marshall was there with us with great guidance and exceptional service. I am constantly in awe how Marshall manages to be so responsive in light of the number of clients he works with at any given time. In fact, I think being so busy makes Marshall much more responsive than the other "traditional" real estate agents we dealt with on the seller side. We wrote three contracts with Marshall with the last one being the one that worked out. He was great at explaining everything and keeping us updated throughout the entire process from contract to closing. Marshall was also aggressive at negotiating the original contract price and then also with some repair items after the home inspection. In addition to the Redfin rebate, Marshall saved us thousands of dollars! Whatever it is that Redfin pays this guy, it isn't enough.

In my opinion, redfin is for those people who want to find the house themselves without relying too much on an agent, but want someone else to do all the paperwork. I would recommend to anyone looking for a foreclosure or fixer-upper to use someone specialized in this area, as the extra knowledge gained in this will probably make up for the redfin rebate.
