While Steven is a nice guy, not once did he show our house, or did any other Redfin agent. He did not personally run our open house, and not enough advanced marketing was done prior to the open house to bring in prospective buyers. It seems that Redfin relies solely on social media to sell their listed properties, and when the listed property is in an area with a large number of homes for sale, we feel the listing agent should do more.

In a market where houses are selling quickly - Redfin and the services are probably adequate. The issue is this market needs more. Marketing and follow up are key. There was very little agent follow up, and there seemed to be more interest in just lowering the price to sell. Re-listed with a local agent and there is a night and day difference in the showings and engagement. I regret that we didn't go with the local agent sooner.

Steven was very nice but we just have differing opinions about several issues. He wanted to list our house for 30k under what we believed we could and did get. Next we wanted him to do the searching for our new home and he put the burden on us. Third he wanted us to bid on new houses 25k to 30k over list price even though we were paying cash. We let him go after that and bought our next house at list as we expected. Our new realtor did all the research and leg work and agreed that offering list was completely smart with a 24 hour response requested. Steven did sell our home and even after we let him go he still was very kind and helped a great deal with other issues leading to a smoother closing on our house. We really just had different goals and strategies for buying and selling.
