About
Kaeleku
Kaeleku, located between Hana Highway (HI-360) and the Kipahulu District of Haleakalā National Park, is a rural and coastal Hana neighborhood with rainforest gulches and ocean-facing overlooks. The neighborhood’s character concentrates around the Kaeleku Caverns pull-off on Hana Highway, where roadside fruit stands, banana bread counters, and waterfall lookouts set the tempo. Hana Lava Tube (Kaeleku Caverns) and the nearby Nahiku Marketplace act as low-key community pillars for snacks, crafts, and local goods. Homes and small farms sit along narrow lanes under dense canopy, with frequent streams and lava-rock edges. Days track the weather—misty upland greens giving way to salt air near the cliffs. The pace stays quiet, shaped by the road and the landscape.
