About Rio

Vista

Rio Vista, located between Jefferson Highway and the Mississippi River, is a residential and riverside Jefferson neighborhood with mid-century ranch homes and leafy, curving streets. The neighborhood’s character concentrates around the Jefferson Highway corridor near Causeway Boulevard, where local seafood counters, longtime diners, and small service storefronts set a steady, lived-in rhythm. Community pillars include the Jefferson Orleans North (JON) Branch Library, the Jefferson Performing Arts Center, and the historic Jefferson Parish Courthouse complex. Streets closer to the levee feel quieter, with wide skies and river traffic as a backdrop. Architecture leans toward low-slung brick and stucco houses with deep carports and generous setbacks. Daily life often orbits around the riverfront paths and nearby civic campuses rather than a single retail strip.
