Single and Two-Family Residential District
The intent of the R-2, Single and Two-Family Residential District is to provide neighborhoods consisting of two-family dwellings and single-family dwellings on smaller lots than permitted in the R-1 district. It is intended that new development be consistent with the established or desired form of the area. The R-2, district is intended to accommodate associated uses and facilities e.g., cultural, religious, education, governmental that serve residents of the district. It is further the intent of this district to prohibit or restrict land uses that would interfere with the development or maintenance of neighborhoods; generate traffic on local roads in excess of typical residential traffic; or, create public service costs and requirements in excess of the cost and requirements for a typical R-2 residential development. Preservation of open space, protection of flood prone areas, protection of wooded areas, and preservation of natural features is encouraged.
