There are few chances in life to acquire an architecturally significant property with commanding views of the Delaware River. Designed by J. Robert Hillier, this minimalist Solebury Twp. residence (c. 2004) is a masterful example of integrated living. Built into a bluff, organic elements such as a sod roof and stone quarried on-site blend the building with its surroundings. Through the arrival court, a cylindrical greeting room establishes the meticulous aesthetic defining the home. Curved zinc walls offer sculptural appeal and complement the Winchester black slate fireplace, one of two. Glass walls anchor the public spaces while limestone floors, warmed by radiant heat, flow from the living room into the dining room and continue throughout. In the kitchen, a circular counter of honed granite and English sycamore cabinetry impart a calming sensibility. The four-room master suite comprises an entire wing of the home and boasts a lap pool. Pocket doors from the living pavilion access a two-room guest suite.
