Rickey Minor, the former music director of American Idol and the new leader of The Tonight Show Band (following Kevin Eubanks’ departure), just listed his Los Angeles home for $4.95 million. The estate has four bedrooms, seven baths and more than 5,800 square feet. He purchased the home in December 2010 for $3.77 million from actress Katey Sagal, who first gained notoriety as Peggy Bundy on “Married…with Children.” Other celebs in the neighborhood include Jake Gyllenhaal (who lives next door!), Brian Austin Green and Faye Resnick.
The listing photos show Rickey’s baby grand piano in a room with sweeping views of the valley’s city lights, canyons, mountains and the Hollywood sign. What a nice place to play! The master bedroom shares the amazing view and includes large walk-in closets and a huge master bath with sunken tub. Outside, there’s a pool and spa, multiple outdoor dining areas, hillside gardens with citrus trees, a tree-house and basketball court. There’s also a standalone two-story 1,500 square foot guesthouse with one bedroom, an office, kitchenette and gym. The property is over half an acre and is surrounded by lush gardens and multiple terraces. It is listed by Marcie Hartley, of Hilton & Hyland.
In addition to his work on American Idol and the Tonight Show, Rickey has served as music director of the Super Bowl, the Grammy Awards and The NAACP Image Awards. In his 2009 book, There’s No Traffic on the Extra Mile, he shares his recollections of collaborating with such performing artists as Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Ray Charles and Beyonce.
What do you think of Rickey’s home? Do you think he’ll be moving up now that he’s on the Tonight Show?
