For Eichler ethusiasts, this Saturday and Sunday presents the golden opportunity to tour 20 Eichlers in Marin County. Hospice by the Bay is hosting its 2nd annual Eichler homes tour, their Open Hearts, Open Homes fundraiser event that also features exotic cars on September 15th & 16th. The tours are docent led and gives visitors an informative and first-hand appreication of the Modernist architecture created by Joseph Eichler.
Marin County, with approximately 1,600 Eichlers, is the largest benefactor of Joseph Eichler’s visionary work from the 50s, 60s and 70s. These Caliornia Modern homes have open floor plans and typical features are floor to ceiling glass walls, post-and-beam construction, atriums or courtyards and flat or low-sloping roofs.
